Freshman Avery Wapp (4-8) took the loss in the circle for Lindenwood (13-28). Senior Amanda Weyh started the ballgame and went four innings, surrendering one run on five hits, walking one and striking out one.
Sophomore Lauren Pelton led the way offensively for the Lions, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with two RBI. Sophomore Mya Bethany put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Freshman Tori Hatton also contributed, going 1-for-2 for Lindenwood with two walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the third inning. Lindenwood got an RBI single from Bethany, scoring freshman Dallis Darnell from second base.
The Billikens then rallied to score six runs and take a 6-1 lead before the Lions got back on the board in the seventh. Lindenwood scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of Pelton, which tightened the Billikens lead to 6-4. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
