Track and Field Head Coach Scott Roberts Relieved of Coaching Duties

Lindenwood University Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Brad Wachler announced today that track and field head coach Scott Roberts was relieved of his coaching duties effective immediately.

"We would like to thank Coach Roberts for his six years of service and commitment to Lindenwood University," said Wachler. "He was an asset to our track and field programs over the last six years, and was integral in guiding the teams through their first seasons at the NCAA Division II level."

During his six seasons at Lindenwood, Roberts coached the first 22 NCAA All-Americans in school history, as well as the first 10 MIAA conference champions in program history. His athletes have earned 69 all-conference honors and 47 all-region awards.

Earlier this year at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships, Ariel Jackson of the women's track team won the 200m national championship, the first national title for the track and field program at the NCAA level. The Lions had their best all-time finish at the event, finishing in 17th place.

This past weekend, Lindenwood had four athletes compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

During his tenure at Lindenwood, Roberts' athletes also excelled in the classroom. Lindenwood has won 22 MIAA Academic Excellence awards, 16 MIAA Scholar-Athlete awards, and 238 MIAA Academic Honor Roll awards.
