Women’s Hockey Announces 2017-18 Recruiting Class

The Lindenwood women's hockey team and head coach Scott Spencer announced a six-player recruiting class for the upcoming 2017-18 season on Thursday afternoon. Hannah Alt, Sierra Burt, Mariah Hinds, Jane Jacobs, Christiana von Aulock, and Megan Wagner will all join the Lady Lions as the team prepares for its seventh NCAA season.

Hannah Alt – 5'3" Forward
Chicago Mission (HPHL)

Alt is a native of Belvidere, Ill. and played for the Chicago Mission. Alt was part of the Mission team that captured silver at the 2016 U-18 National Championships. "Hannah is a player that can play in many different situations," said Spencer. "Her hockey sense and work ethic allows her to be able to play with skilled players and turn around and be a very effective role player. "

Sierra Burt – 5'6" Forward
Bluewater Hawks (PWHL)
Team Ontario Blue

Career Stats: 75 games – 24 goals, 35 assists, 59 points

Burt competed in the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL) with the Bluewater Junior Hawks, and is from Bayfield, Ontario. Burt represented Team Ontario Blue at the Canadian National Championships, while also earning invitations to the Team Canada U-18 National Strength and Conditioning Camp and National Team tryout camp. "Sierra is an intelligent two-way hockey player with the ability to produce points," Spencer said.  "Her competitiveness and drive to be the best will be a great addition."

Mariah Hinds – 5'11" Defense
Leaside Wildcats (PWHL)
Team Ontario Red

Career Stats: 114 games – 16 goals, 36 assists, 52 points

Like Burt, Hinds also competed in the PWHL, playing for the Leaside Junior Wildcats. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Hinds has been one of the top-five scoring defenders in each of the last two seasons. Hinds won a gold medal with Team Ontario Red at the Canadian National Championships, and received an invitation to the Team Canada U-18 National Strength and Conditioning Camp. "Mariah is a big offensive defenseman with a bomb of a shot," explained Spencer. "Her size and offensive instincts will be a great addition to our special teams."

Jane Jacobs – 5'6 Defense
Edge School (CSSHL)
Team Alberta

Career Stats: 69 games – 18 goals, 29 assists, 47 points

Jacobs, from Carseland, Alberta, represented Team Alberta at the Canadian U-18 National Championships. Jacobs totaled 10 goals and 26 assists during her senior season. "Jane is skilled versatile player," said Spencer. "She has the ability to play both defense and forward which will make her valuable in many different situations. I am excited to see what her offensive creativity will bring from the back end."

Christiana von Aulock – 5'6" Defense
Chicago Mission (HPHL)

von Aulock hails from Des Plaines, Ill., and played for the Chicago Mission. von Aulock has attended USA Hockey National Development Camps, and won a silver medal at the U-18 National Championships. "Chrissy is smooth skating defenseman," Spencer said. "Her speed and competiveness will help our team greatly in transition and give us more options to be dangerous offensively."

Megan Wagner – 5'1 Forward
Chicago Mission (HPHL)

Wagner also won a silver medal at the U-18 National Championships with the Chicago Mission. The Niles, Ill. native has competed at USA Hockey National Development Camps. "Megan is very skilled and intelligent player," explained Spencer. "Even though she is small she plays big with a relentless style that will fit in perfectly with our group. She has great vision that will make players around her better"

Lindenwood advanced to the CHA semifinals for the first time in program history last season, and will be looking to build on that success during the 2017-18 season.
