A new era of Lindenwood gymnastics started on Sunday afternoon in DeKalb, Ill. as the program took the floor for the first time without members of its inaugural class. The Lady Lions scored a 192.075 at the quad meet, their second-best season-opening score in team history.
The Lady Lions had six gymnasts making their collegiate debuts in the meet hosted by Northern Illinois, and those six gymnasts competed in nine events. Among the top performances from that group were
Breanna Franklin scoring a 9.675 on the vault,
Maya Davis having a 9.525 on the vault,
Taylor Colwell scoring a 9.525 on the bream, and
Ryan Henry having a 9.500 on the floor.
Highlighting the meet though for the Lady Lions was the return on
Kierstin Sokolowski who missed most of the last season with an injury. She had one of the highest score on the day for Lindenwood with a 9.725 on the vault, and she also scored a 9.675 on the bars and a 9.650 on the beam.

Katey Oswalt had the highest score for the Lady Lions with a 9.750 on the floor, and she also scored a 9.675 on the vault.
Andavea Alexander,
Aubree Horn,
Katey Oswalt, and
Hannah Rector all had two events with a 9.650 or higher, and
Kayla McMullan started her year with a 9.700 on the floor.

As a team, Lindenwood scored over a 48.0 on the vault (48.275) and floor (48.300), and had over a 47.7 on the bars (47.725) and beam (47.775). Northern Illinois won the meet with a 194.825, followed by Iowa's 194.200, and Western Michigan's 193.250.

Lindenwood has its home opener next Sunday with the State of Missouri Meet at Hyland Arena at 3 p.m. The Lady Lions will be hosting SEC Missouri and MIC rival Southeast Missouri.
