The Lion wrestling team went undefeated in the NCWA National Duals in Dalton, Ga. this weekend. They return home with a 6-0 record in the 20-team tournament. After recording big wins over South Florida (61-0), Auburn (64-0), and Georgia (54-0) on Friday, Lindenwood topped The Apprentice School (49-3), Central Florida (30-15), and Liberty (30-19) on Saturday.
Lion wrestlers
Michael Caldwell (133 lbs.),
Craig Chiles (149 lbs.), and
Derrick Weller (157 lbs.) each went undefeated on the weekend. All three wrestlers recorded victories in the championship round of the tournament.
Other notable performances by Lindenwood wrestlers include Blayne Shockley (125 lbs.), who won five of his six matches including two of them by pinfall.
Masen Ridenhour went 3-0 in the tournament with two wins by pinfall.
Matt Greene (174 lbs.) won three of his matches by pinfall on his way to a 4-1 record in the tournament.
Padric Lynch earned a 5-1 record on the weekend while recording two wins by pinfall and another by major decision.
The Lions advanced to the finals of the tournament relatively easily before battling Liberty in a close championship match. Lindenwood won seven of the 11 matches in the championship round to lock up first-place in the tournament.
The Lindenwood wrestlers will be back in action on January 24th when they take on Central Missouri in St. Charles, Mo.
