The Lindenwood women's hockey team ended its inaugural season against a NCAA schedule by scoring a season-high nine goals during a 9-1 road victory over Saint Michael's. The Lady Lions won eight games against NCAA opponents, including six straight to end the season.
The Lady Lions dominated play during their final game of 2011-12, outshooting the Purple Knights by a 53-12 margin. Saint Michael's had just seven shots while the two teams were at even strength, and just a single shot in the second period.
Lindenwood got off to a quick start as
Samantha Redick scored twice in the first nine minutes, and the Lady Lions led 4-0 after one period. The Lady Lions added three more goals in the second period and two in the third. The lone Saint Michael's goal came early in the third period with Lindenwood already up by eight goals.
Redick,
Alyssa West, and
Caitlyn Post all had two goals in the game. West finished with six points as she also assisted on four goals.
Alison Wickenheiser had a goal and two assists, and the other goals were scored by
Kendra Broad and
Allysson Arcibal.
Jordyn Constance had two assists, and
Caitlyn Post,
Sydney Gorzitza,
Mara Post, and
Brett Lobreau each had one assist.
Four players, Arcibal, Gorzitza,
Katie Erickson, and West, finished the game with a +4 plus-minus. Defensively,
Briar Bache made 11 saves and picked up the victory in goal.
Lindenwood ends the season with an 8-21-0 overall record.
