Pierre Desir Named AFCA All-American

Lindenwood defensive back Pierre Desir was named an AFCA All-American on Monday. He is the first Lions defensive player to receive AFCA All-American honors and the first Lindenwood football player to receive the award at the NCAA Division II level.

Desir set the Lindenwood single-season record this past season with nine interceptions. The nine interceptions led the MIAA and he also led the conference with 18 passes defended. He intercepted in two passes in a game three separate times. His biggest interception came against Fort Hays State when he picked off a potential game-winning touchdown pass in the endzone with 1:17 remaining in the game.

Desir also recorded 60 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack. He had a season-high 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in the victory against Glenville State. Desir scored one touchdown in his first season as a Lion, returning an interception for six points against Southwest Baptist.

Desir is the fourth Lindenwood player to receive AFCA All-American honors, joining running back DeDe Dorsey (2005), offensive lineman Jeff Hynes (2008, 2009), and quarterback Philip Staback (2010).

The AFCA Division II All-America selection committee is made up of three head coaches from each of the AFCA's nine districts. The coaches select 25 players, with 11 from the offense, 11 from the defense, and three from special teams.
