The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team played its seventh and final game of the season on Wednesday against a NCAA Division I ranked opponent. The Lady Lions fell in Grand Forks, N.D. to No. 6 North Dakota by a 14-0 score.
North Dakota got stronger as the game went on, scoring three goals in the first period, four in the second, and seven in the third. The Lady Lions were outshot 62-15 in the game and were just 16-of-57 on faceoffs. Lindenwood was 0-for-3 on the power play, while North Dakota was 1-for-four.
Team leaders for Lindenwood were
Taylor Fairchild with 48 saves,
Alison Wickenheiser with five shots,
Kelsey Talbot with three blocks, and
Alyssa West with seven faceoff victories.
Lindenwood will travel to Moorhead, Minn. for a two-game series this weekend against Concordia (Minn.). Concordia is a top-10 program at the NCAA Division III level.
