The Lindenwood Cycling team found success at two different meets September 10th and 11th as they traveled to Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky for the first mountain bike event of the season and also to the University of Illinois-Chicago for the track cycling Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference (MWCCC) Regional Championship September 10th and 11th.
In the Men's A short track mountain bike race, newcomer Cody Goettl topped a field of 20 riders to win his debut race for the Lions. Zak Hafner finished 8th for Lindenwood in the event. Goettl continued his strong weekend performance on Sunday as he finished the Men's A category cross country race in 4th while Hafner finished 13th. In the Men's C Category, Mark Schroeder finished 8th in the short track race and 11th in cross country.
In the Women's B Category, Hanne Zmierczak, the lone female representing Lindenwood for the event, finished third in the short track race and improved to a second place finish in the cross country race.
At the MWCCC Regionals in Chicago, Ashley Rethemeyer won the regional conference title, outriding Rosette Reynolds from Ripon College over the course of several different track races.
On the men's side, Nicholas Chevalley had his personal best finish in the Men's 4k race placing second just behind Isaiah Newkirk from Marian University. Chevalley also placed third in the Men's 1k and men's point races.
Next up for Lindenwood Cycling is the Track Nationals event in Indianapolis September 17th and 18th.
