The No. 5 Lady Lions lacrosse team ended its 2011 season on Saturday morning in Scottsdale, Ariz. with a 12-8 loss to No. 11 Pittsburgh. Lindenwood finished 12th in the WCLA National Championship Tournament.
Lindenwood grabbed a 5-3 halftime lead in the contest, but the Panthers outscored the Lady Lions by a 9-3 margin in the final half of the year.
Justiene Groothuis led Lindenwood with three goals and an assist.
Lexi Crusha added two goals, and other scores came from
Lindsey Brown,
Kathryn St. George, and
Eleni Papadakos.
Christine Hehmeyer made six saves in goal and St. George had three groundballs.
Lindenwood ends its season with a 14-7 overall record.
