The Lindenwood synchronized swimming team traveled to Gainesville, Fla. on Saturday and nabbed gold medals in three of four routine events against the University of Florida. The team also earned the overall meet victory.
In the first dual meet between the two programs, Lindenwood won the duet, trio and team events, and finished 2-3 in solo.
Lindenwood's Black Eyed Peas trio of Victoria Burdon, Stewart Shoemaker, and Jessica Webb improved a full five points from two weeks ago to capture top honors with a score of 80.167. Lindenwood's duet of Burdon and Beth Bunton improved seven points from two weeks ago, earning an 84.333 for the victory.
In the premier event of the afternoon, Lindenwood's "China" routine topped the Gators for the first time, with a score of 83.167. Swimming for the Lady Lions were Abigail Andresen, Federica Bertolini, Julia Birkelo, Rachel McWhorter, Simona Placha, Brynn Sebring, Shoemakerm and Carmen Salazar.
Florida's lone gold came from Allison Baker in the solo event, who earned an 83.333 to Lindenwood's Beth Burton at 83.000. Burton's solo was the only routine at the event to earn two nines from the judges.
LU travels to the University of the Incarnate Word next weekend to take on UIW and Stanford.
