The No. 14 Lindenwood men's basketball team set a school record with its 12th straight win on Thursday night. The Lions defeated Missouri Valley by a 77-66 score in St. Charles.

The Lions were led by the guard trio of Kramer Soderberg, Alex Bazzell, and Richard Rose. The three players combined to score 65 of the team's 77 points. They shot 52.8 percent from the field, 58.9 percent from three-point range, and 89.5 percent from the free throw line.

Neither team led by more than five points in the first half. Missouri Valley had a 29-24 advantage with just over two minutes remaining, but Lindenwood closed the half on a 9-2 run, sparked by a three-pointer by Rose with eight seconds remaining.

After shooting just over 40 percent in the first half, Lindenwood's shooting heated up in the final 20 minutes. After trading the lead back-and-forth four times early in the period, the Lions took the lead for good with an 8-0 run to go up 51-45 with 11:29 remaining. Despite trailing, Missouri Valley kept fighting back, getting within one possession on six separate occasions. Rose's fourth three-pointer of the half finally gave the Lions some breathing room at 66-59 and a Bazzell three-pointer finished the Vikings off as it put Lindenwood up 10 with under a minute remaining.

Lindenwood finished the game shooting 45.5 percent from the field and from three-point range. In the second half, it made 50 percent of its shots from the field and 54.5 percent from beyond the arc. Missouri Valley shot 42.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three-point range, and 52.9 percent from the free throw line. The Vikings made more field goals, but had five less three-pointers and eight less free throws. Both teams had 36 rebounds and Missouri Valley forced one more turnover.

Soderberg led Lindenwood with 24 points after he made nine of 16 from the field, and also had a team-high six assists. Bazzell had 22 points, made three three-pointers and connected on all nine free throws he attempted. Rose hit five three-pointers and finished with 19 points.

While the guard trio took care of the score, the post trio of Brett Thompson, Alfred Nelson, and David King handled the rebounds. Thompson had a team-high 11 rebounds, Nelson grabbed nine, and King had eight boards.

With the win, the Lions improve their record to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play. Lindenwood hits the road for two straight games, playing at Graceland on Saturday and visiting Avila on Monday.
