The Lindenwood women's volleyball team opened up its home portion of the schedule on Wednesday night against Hannibal-LaGrange and swept the Trojans, 3-0. The Lady Lions won the contest 25-21, 25-19, 25-18.
In the opening set, the Lady Lions took the first point followed by the Trojans winning the next two to take a 2-1 lead. That would be the last lead Hannibal-LaGrange would see as the Lady Lions would win the next four points to take a 5-2 lead. The Trojans would cut the lead to one on several occasions but the Lady Lions had an answer each and every time.
The second game started with both teams trading points all the way up to 6-6. Then, a game deciding 6-0 run capped off by a Krista Yoder kill put the Lady Lions up 14-8. The lead would balloon up to as many as six until the Trojans put on a late charge getting within three. Freshman Megan Dillon would put away a long rally with a kill and send Lindenwood to the win in game two.
For the second straight game, the Trojans and the Lady Lions would trade points to begin the game and Hannibal-LaGrange held the lead early 11-10. Lindenwood would tie the score at 12 and then went on an 8-1 run capped off by back-to-back Ellen Fandry kills. The Lady Lions would not look back from there as they widened the lead and finished off the sweep 25-18.
Fandry led the way for the Lady Lions with 13 digs, one ace, and 15 kills. Yoder chipped in with 13 kills and led the team with four blocks. Patricia Erb was second on the team with 11 digs while Alyssa Showers had 10. Alexandria Malam led the Lady Lions with 25 assists and Kelsey Biggs had 21.
