Twenty-Five Athletes Named NAIA Scholar-Athletes

Twenty-five Lindenwood student-athletes were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the spring season.
Leading the way was the track and field programs which had 11 recipients in Calvin Bachelot, Julianne Bennett, Christine Blecher, Siu Nga Ching, Darren Dodd, Jessica Ecker, Lisa Hughes, Amanda Leung, Claudia Mieke, Renata Moleta, and Caitlyn Sandquist.

The baseball team had seven representatives in Zachary Adams, Brent Bevolo, Kevin Gribble, Bryce Holland, Justin Lange, Daniel McCarthy, and DJ Politte. The softball team had six recipients in Katherine Kolish, Jodi Urhahn, Emily Johnson, Rebecca Peddicord, Miranda Schlosser, and Aubrey Moss. Grace Weber of the women’s golf team was also named a scholar-athlete.

In order to be named a NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a person must be nominated by their head coach, have a 3.50 GPA, and have achieved junior academic status.

Hannes Backstrom
Men's Soccer
Hannes Backstrom scored two goals as the Lions men's soccer team opened the season with a 2-0 record. On Sunday, he scored the game-winner in a 1-0 overtime victory. Monday, he scored the first goal of the game in a 2-1 victory over the No. 1 team in the country.
Kayleigh Harrower
Field Hockey
Kayleigh Harrower had a hat trick in Lindenwood field hockey's first victory of the season over Hendrix. She scored three times in the second half to help the Lady Lions overcome a halftime deficit and win 3-1.
