Lions Dominate Missouri Valley in the Second Round of HAAC Tournament

The Lindenwood baseball team defeated Missouri Valley by a score of 25-5 on Thursday night in the second round of the HAAC Tournament in St. Joseph, Mo.

It was all Lions from the opening inning. Lindenwood would score four runs in the first inning and then would score 21 more in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

Every hitter but one in the Lions’ starting lineup had at least one hit and one RBI. Zach Malawey led the way with three hits, including a pair of home runs, and six RBIs. Shelby Anderson pitched in with two hits in five at-bats while driving in three runs. For the second time in the tournament Dan Harris homered while driving in three runs. Cody Anderson, Bryce Holland, Randy Serrato, and Casey Colbert all drove in two runs each.

HAAC Pitcher of the Year Evan Vinyard started on the hill for the Lions and went five innings to earn his 10th win of the season. Vinyard gave up just three earned runs on six hits and struck out five.

Lindenwood will now move on to the third round of the HAAC Tournament and take on the winner of the William Jewell-Missouri Valley game Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Shauna Isbell
Women's Wrestling
Shauna Isbell captured the first individual championship for women's wrestling in the 130 pound division at the 2012 Women's College Wrestling Association National Tournament. This was the first women's collegiate wrestling national championship for both Isbell and Lindenwood. She won twice by pin-fall and three times by decision. 
Garrett  Reeg
Men's Basketball
Garrett Reeg helped the Lindenwood men's basketball team go 3-0 last week over Webster, McKendree and Lincoln. Reeg recorded double-figure points in all three games including a 14-point mark against Webster as well as McKendree. In three games, Reeg shot 68 percent from the field and 100 percent from the free-throw line while posting 19 total rebounds.
