Lindenwood women's ice hockey head coach Vince O'Mara was named a coach this week for the women's ice hockey team that will represent the United States at the 2011 World University Games.
The World University Games will be held on Jan. 27-Feb. 6 in Erzurum, Turkey. The United States will be making its inaugural appearance in women's ice hockey at the World University Games. The team will be comprised of players from collegiate ice hockey teams associated with the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
O'Mara has coached Lindenwood's women's ice hockey team for the last seven years. He has a record of 208-23-9 in that span, and has won four ACHA Division I National Championships and three league titles. O'Mara has been the National Coach of the Year two times and has coached numerous All-Americans and three ACHA Players of the Year.
O'Mara has been coaching women's ice hockey for 14 years. Prior to Lindenwood, he was the head coach for the St. Louis Force select 16 and over women's team. He had a combined record of 135-25-12 and won four WCHL League Championships, five Missouri State titles, four Central Regional Championships, and four National Championship appearances.
