Lindenwood bowlers Amanda Green and E.J. Parks competed at the 2010 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships on Monday and Tuesday in Euless, Texas. Green qualified 10th and reached the second round of match play. Parks qualified 15th and was eliminated in round one of the tournament.
Green averaged 187.2 during 12 qualifying rounds. She had a strong finish, averaging 207.3 for the final four games.
She used that momentum to win Tuesday's first-round match by a 3-1 score over Penn State-Park's Danielle Knittle. Green averaged 202.5 for those four games, compared to 187.3 for Knittle. The match was tied at one when Green won the highest scoring game of the match by a 230-194 score. She then won the best-of-five contest with a 197-180 victory in game four.
Green was unlucky in the second round as she lost 3-2 to Robert Morris's Heather D'Errico. Green had a higher average by a 196.4-191.6 margin. However, she lost game two by just a single point, and then lost games three and five despite bowling games of 217 and 220, respectively, in those sets.
Parks started out strong in the qualifying rounds by averaging 197.5 for the first six games and being in seventh place. After 12 games, however, his average fell to 187.4 and he dropped to 15th.
In match play, Parks was swept 3-0 by Wichita State's John Szczerbinski. Szczerbinski was hot in the match by averaging 230.7 and having a low of 216. Parks could not match, as he averaged 184.0 for the three games and had a high score of 200.
