Nine Lindenwood softball players were named to the HAAC All-Conference teams this past weekend, and two Lady Lions earned Gold Glove honors.
Jodi Urhahn, Sophia Galati, and Aubrey Moss were named to the first team. Sophie Berman, Samantha Van Pelt, Rebecca Peddicord, and Heidi Schertzer were selected to the second team, and Caitlin Diesen and Danielle Merli were honorable mention selections. Merli and Jessica Long were awarded Gold Gloves for their outstanding defensive work in the field.
Urhahn, a third baseman, led the team with a .387 batting average and was fourth in total hits with 43. She scored 18 runs, drove in 15, and stole eight bases. In conference play, she batted .475, the second best mark in the HAAC.
Galati, an outfielder, was Lindenwood’s top run producer. She posted a team-high nine home runs, 31 RBIs, and slugged .600 on the year. Eight of her nine round trippers came against HAAC pitchers. She was second on the team in total hits with 45.
Moss, a pitcher, led the Lindenwood staff with 11 wins, a 2.12 ERA, and 144 strikeouts in 129 innings pitched. The 11 wins marked the third straight season in which she notched double-digit wins, and tied her career high. Moss logged 13 complete games and five shutouts.
Berman, an outfielder, hit .346 with one home run and 17 RBIs. She scored 19 runs and led the team with 12 stolen bases.
Van Pelt, also an outfielder, collected a .328 batting average and scored 23 runs. She was second on the squad with eight doubles and drove in 17 runs.
Peddicord, a pitcher, collected nine wins and posted an ERA of 2.62 with 69 strikeouts. She tossed three shutouts on the year.
Schertzer, also a pitcher, had an ERA of 2.73 with nine wins. She struck out 71 and walked just 15 in 89.2 innings worked.
Diesen, a first baseman, finished with a .340 batting average, one home run and 27 RBIs. She scored 20 runs and stole four bases.
Merli, a second baseman, led the team with 46 hits and 30 runs scored. She drove in 24 runs and had one home run. She also collected a team-high three triples.
Merli and Long were awarded Gold Gloves for their defensive work. Merli recorded just three errors in 173 chances, posting a .983 fielding percentage. Long, a shortstop, had a .944 fielding percentage and helped turn five double plays.
Lindenwood finished the season 32-21 and won the HAAC regular season conference championship with a record of 17-3.
