Bowling Squads Have High Finishes During Nationals Qualifying

The Lindenwood bowling teams both had high finishes during the qualifying round of the 2010 USBC Intercollegiate Team National Championships. The Lions finished second out of 16 teams while the women's squad finished fourth.

The Lions led the qualifying at the halfway mark with a 212.0 average, and improved on that mark by averaging 212.6 over the final 16 games. However, the favorite Wichita State was able to overcome the Lions but won by less than two pins a game. Lindenwood shot over 200 in 20 of the 32 games, including a high game of 280, the best men's score of the day.

The Lady Lions averaged 192.8 for the 32 games and finished ahead of everyone but Wichita State, Webber International, and Maryland-Eastern Shore. Lindenwood started out slow but had the second highest score during the second block. The Lady Lions had 12 games over 200, including a high of 269 in game 16, which was the highest women's score for the qualifying round.

The Lions will start bracket play on Friday with a contest against Fresno State, while the Lady Lions will face West Texas A&M in the first-round.
