Roller Hockey Wins Eighth National Championship

For the eighth time in the past nine years the Lindenwood Lions' roller hockey team is National Champions. The Lions beat Arizona State 5-1 in the championship game on Sunday in San Jose, California.

It took the Lions only 13 second to score the game's opening goal. John McGuiness would net his first of two goals of the game with help from Michael Inouye. To close the opening period McGuiness would score a power play goal and Travis Bokina would give the Lions a 3-0 after one. The story of the opening period was the Lions' defense. Arizona State could not even muster a single shot.

Lindenwood's Sean Sullivan would score the only goal of the second period helping the Lions to a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the final stanza. Sullivan would once again score to open the final period and Arizona State would score their only goal just two minutes later.

When the clock hit triple zeroes the Lions were once again National Champions with a 5-1 win. Lindenwood would end the season with an overall record of 28-1-1 and the program's eighth National Championship.
