Lions Move to Semifinals With Win

After a slow start at the 2010 NCRHA National Championship in San Jose, California the Lindenwood Lion roller hockey team is back to its regular season form. In quarterfinal action against Rhode Island the Lions beat up on the Rams, 9-1.

Lindenwood started the game off quickly when Casey Escarcega would score his first of two goals on the day just 1:29 into the game. Just over one minute later Daniel Inouye would score to give the Lions an early, 2-0 lead. The opening period would close with Sean Sullivan scoring his sixth goal of the postseason to send the Lions to the intermission with a 3-0 lead.

Once again it didn't take Lindenwood long to score as it only took 1:13 into the second for the Lions to net a goal. Adam Aitken would score with help from Travis Bokina, then five minutes later Escarcega would also put the puck in the net to give Lindenwood the 5-0 lead heading into the final period.

Lindenwood would net four more goals in the third period to move on to the semifinals with a 9-1 win. With Inouye's goal and four assists he was named the game's first star and Sullivan would score three times to earn the second star of the game.

Next up for the Lions is a semifinal match-up with rival University of Missouri-St. Louis later Saturday night at 6:30 p.m..
