The Lindenwood Lions roller hockey team's quest for an eighth national championship continued on Saturday night at the 2010 NCRHA National Championship in San Jose, California. The Lions would beat local rival University of Missouri- St. Louis by the score of 6-2 to move onto the championship game on Sunday afternoon.
Lindenwood started the opening period with three unanswered goals. Travis Bokina would score the first two goals then Sean Sullivan would score the third. Casey Escarcaga would open the second period with a goal to extend the Lions' lead to 4-0. UMSL would score the next two goals to cut the Lions' lead to 4-2 heading into the final period.
With just one period away from heading to the championship game Bokina would score his third goal of the game to give the Lions a three goal lead. Just 40 seconds later John McGuiness would net an insurance goal and the Lions would hold on from there winning, 6-2.
The win over the Tritons was the seventh win in eight games against UMSL this season for the Lions and the other was a tie.
Up next for the Lions will be the championship game against the winner of Arizona State and Buffalo on Sunday at 10:30 a.m..
