Table Tennis Continues to Roll

This past weekend the Lindenwood table tennis team traveled to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Arnold Sports Festival.

Lindenwood's Paulo Rocha claimed the Open Singles title over Lukasz Fita three games to two. Rocha reached the finals by defeating teammate Jose Barbosa in the semifinals.

It was an all Lindenwood final in the Under-2200 singles competition as Kris Frank edged out teammate Yuvraaj Dookram by the scores of 11-7, 11-8, 3-11, 9-11 and 11-9.

In the hardbat event, Andre Irigoyen ousted teammate Munkhbold Bayarsaikhan three games to none, to capture his second hardbat title of the season.

After falling to Rocha earlier in the competition, Barbosa got his revenge beating his teammate in the Arnold Ladder Challenge.

Sunday's competition involved USA Table Tennis (USATT) rated events along with a college team event. Lindenwood entered three teams in the college event. Other schools that participated were Ohio State, University of Michigan, and University of Akron. The Lions claimed the top three positions defeating all the other college teams.

In the Under-2100 event, Michelle John defeated Darren Tang by the score of (11-13, 11-9, 11-6, 5-11, 11-9). In the Under-1200 event, Thompson Amonoo went undefeated and brought home the hardware.

Next up for the Lions is our own 2010 Lindenwood March Open to be held at the Performance Arena March 20th and 21st.
