Lady Lions Fall to HAAC Leading Evangel
Cassie Williams led the Lady Lions with three steals against Evangel.

It was a tale of two halves for the Lady Lions basketball team on Thursday night. The first half was all Evangel Crusaders outscoring Lindenwood, 38-17. The Lady Lions came out of the halftime locker room and outscored the Crusaders 36-28 but it just wasn’t enough to overcome the slow start and Lindenwood fell, 66-53.

The first half started with the Lady Lions scoring the first four points of the game and held a 4-0 lead. It would be the only lead Lindenwood would hold all night. With the Lady Lions leading by four, Evangel connected on three straight three pointers and went on a 27-2 run. The Crusaders would end up six three pointers in the half and would take a 38-17 lead to the half.

Evangel would extend their lead all the way up to 24 with 16:41 to play in the game. Lindenwood would chip away at the lead, outscoring the Crusaders 36-28, but would eventually fall by 13.

Kelly Albers led the way for Lindenwood with 12 points to go along with seven rebounds. No other Lady Lion scored in double figures.

Lindenwood would go on to shoot 34 percent from the field for the game and only 28 percent from behind the arc. The Crusaders outrebounded the Lady Lions on the offensive boards 14-7 and 44-30 overall.

Next up for the Lady Lions is a home matchup against the Benedictine Lady Ravens on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
