The Lindenwood men’s ice hockey team was recognized last month by the Missouri State Legislature for winning the 2009 ACHA National Championship.

Representative Chuck Gatschenberger presented the team to the Missouri House of Representatives. The Lions were received with a standing ovation and the coaching staff was then invited by Ron Richard, Speaker of the House, to stand at the podium and be recognized for its achievements.

The team was then given the opportunity to meet with Missouri State Supreme Court Judge, Mary Russell. Judge Russell gave the Lions a tour of the Supreme Court building, as well as posing for ceremonious photos.

The two highlights of the day belonged to Head Coach Derek Schaub and sophomore forward Neeco Belanger. Schaub had the privilege of bringing the House to order with the honorary gavel, and Belanger was given the chance to try on Judge Russell’s robe.
