Lindenwood Table Tennis Dominates Think Spring Open

For the second straight weekend, the Lindenwood table tennis team dominated. This time around it was the Think Spring Open in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Freshman Fernando Yamazato was unstoppable, he won the open division by beating the 2009 U.S. Men's National Runner-up, Samson Dubina from Ohio, three game to none (11-8, 11-8, 13-11).

Ryan Driskill also played well for the Lions winning both the under-1950 singles and the under-1750. He won the U-1950 over teammate Bradlee Kendle by the narrowest of margins (11-7, 11-7, 6-11, 9-11, 11-8)

Lady Lion, Esther Gusov, lost in the finals of the U-1350 (8-11, 8-11, 8-11) and she also made it to the semifinals of the higher rated U-1550 event.

The final event of Saturday's competition was the over-1700 round robin. Paulo Rocha took this title by beating Jose Barbosa three games to one (12-10, 11-2, 8-11, 11-6).

The class A event was won by Fred Cantarell, who beat Karin Fukushima three games to two(12-10, 6-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9).

The class B event was won by Kendle over Guilherme Dalcin (10-12, 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-9). The class C event was won by Driskill over John Fioretti (13-11, 11-4, 11-13, 11-2).
