Women's Volleyball Drops to 0-2 in Pool Play at NAIA Volleyball National Championship

The No. 20 Lindenwood women's volleyball team fell to 0-2 in pool play after being swept by No. 6 California Baptist 25-13, 25-20, 25-15 Wednesday afternoon at the 2010 NAIA Volleyball National Championship presented by Siouxland Sports Medicine Foundation in Sioux City, Iowa.

A 10-3 California Baptist run midway through the first set propelled the Lancers to a one set lead. In the second game, Lindenwood trailed 20-13 late, but quickly cut the lead to three with four straight points. However, the Lady Lions would not get any closer, and California Baptist eventually grabbed a two set lead. In the third game, the Lancers raced out to a 12-3 lead and never looked back.

California Baptist stymied the Lindenwood attack, holding the Lady Lions to their second lowest hitting percentage of the season at .065. The Lancers hit .333 as a team and held a six to four advantage in blocks.

Erin Anselman netted a team-high nine kills, and Krista Yoder added eight. Alexandria Malam tallied 14 assists and Kelsey Biggs finished with 10.

Defensively, Ellen Fandry was the only Lady Lion to post double-figure digs with 12. Katie Weber logged three blocks.

Lindenwood (34-14) will wrap up pool play tomorrow with a 1 p.m. match against No. 21 Bellevue.
