The Lindenwood volleyball team joined other qualifying teams for the 31st annual NAIA Volleyball National Championships in hosting a volleyball clinic for the Special Olympics Monday morning at the Tyson Event Center/Gateway Arena in Sioux City, Iowa.
Lindenwood players split into two teams and led children in drills on stretching, passing and serving. The clinic lasted nearly two hours, and more than 150 children were present for the event.
One of the highlights of the morning saw several of the players hoist one of the young girls above the net so she could spike the ball. The other group joined in a big circle and passed the ball around counting how many times they could hit in a row without it touching the floor.
The clinic concluded with the children serving the ball over the net and others returning the serve.
No. 20 Lindenwood begins pool play tomorrow with a 3:15 p.m. match against No. 7 Biola.
