Late Goal by Kent State Stuns Men's Ice Hockey

Lindenwood dropped to 13-3 in the CSCHL with the 5-4 loss to Kent State.
Kent State scored a shorthanded goal with one minute remaining to upset the top ranked Lindenwood men's ice hockey team, 5-4 Saturday evening.

Lindenwood took the early lead in the first on a goal by Jake Coyle who was making his Lions debut. Kent State would score later in the period to tie it one. In the second, Chad Boeckman would put the Lions back on top, but Kent State responded with another score.

The Golden Flashes take the lead for the first time in the opening minutes of the third period, but Necco Belanger scored a power play goal to tie it at three moments later. Mid way through, Kent State would regain the lead with a power play score of its own.

Coyle scored for the second time to tie it at four with six minutes remaining, but with one minute to go, the Golden Flashes would convert a shorthanded score to stun the Lions.

Chris Abbott took the loss in goal for Lindenwood.

On Friday, Lindenwood blew out Kent State, 10-3, Friday night at the Lindenwood Ice Hockey Arena.

Chad Boeckman led the way with a hat trick and captain Colin Long finished with a goal and three assists. Adam Krefski added a score and a pair of helpers as well. Bret Morrell chipped in with three assists. Carson Hamil, who returned from injury tonight for the first time this year, had a third period score for the Lions.

Robi Cavallari earned the win in goal. The Lions were three of five on power play opportunities.

Cory Spradling
Men's Ice Hockey
Cory Spradling was named the tournament MVP for the Lindenwood men's ice hockey as it won its second straight national title. Spradling scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Iowa State in the championshp game. He also scored twice in a 4-0 semifinal victory over Central Oklahoma.

Women's Ice Hockey
Mandy Dion helped the Lady Lions ice hockey team win its third straight national championship and was named MVP of the tournament. She scored 11 goals in five games at the national event and had three hat tricks.
