Lady Lions Shut Out Penn State for the Second Straight Day
Rebecca-Bernet-(09-10)
Rebecca Bernet (31) notched her seventh shutout of the year Saturday afternoon.
The top ranked Lindenwood women's ice hockey team tossed its second straight shutout against No. 8 Penn State this afternoon at the Lindenwood Ice Hockey Arena, winning 4-0. It marked the eighth time this season the Lady Lions have held their opponent scoreless.

Already leading 1-0 in the second after a first period goal by Kendra Ganchar, Lindenwood erupted for three scores to put away the Nittany Lions. Sarah Oliphant scored at the 14:47 mark and Lisa Moreau added another tally shortly after to push the lead to three. With less than seven minutes remaining in the period, Mandy Dion would cap the scoring with a goal of her own.

In the third, the defense would keep Penn State off the board, putting an exclamation mark on an outstanding defensive effort.

Rebecca Bernet earned her seventh shutout of the year, leaving her only two away from her own school record of nine. Shannon Murphy chipped in with two assists, and Erica Wynn, Dion, Ganchar and Oliphant each finished with one apiece.

Lindenwood shutout No. 8 Penn State 3-0 Friday night. For the Lady Lions, it was their seventh shutout of the year and second in the last four games.

Lindenwood got a power play goal from Moreau midway through the second period, and Dion would score twice in the final frame to give the Lady Lions their 20th straight home win. Lindenwood outshot Penn State 49-19 on the night.

Bernet recorded her sixth shutout of the season and Murphy finished with a pair of assists.

Lindenwood (24-2-1, 8-0) will travel to Boulder, Colo. this weekend to compete in the ACHA Tournament against three other schools.
