Richard Rose Surpasses 1,000 Career Points In Lions Loss To Benedictine
Richard Rose
Richard Rose passed the 1,000 career points mark in Monday's contest against Benedictine.
The Lindenwood men’s basketball team failed to capitalize on a quick start as it fell to Benedictine on Monday evening by a 70-59 score.

Lindenwood used an early 14-3 run to take an 18-7 lead and it still lead by 11 with under seven minutes remaining in the first half. Benedictine closed out the half though on a 20-6 run, including 13 straight points at one point, and the Lions trailed 36-33 at the break.

In the second half, the Lions grabbed a one point lead on two occasions but could never build it any larger. The two teams were tied at 51 with eight and a half minutes remaining when the Ravens hit back-to-back three-pointers. Those shots turned out to be the turning point as Benedictine pulled away after that.

Lindenwood dominated the boards, outrebounding Benedictine by a 35-23 margin and having nearly as many offensive rebounds as Benedictine collected defensive rebounds. The Lions couldn’t take advantage as it shot under 40 percent from the field, compared to over 50 percent for the Ravens.

The Lions were led by Richard Rose who had 15 points. With that total, he went over the 1,000 career points mark and now has 1,007 points.

Joey Parker and David King each chipped in with 10 points. Parker had season-highs with eight assists and seven rebounds, and Jerome Douglas tied a career-best with eight rebounds.
