The No. 1 Lindenwood men's ice hockey team swept the University of Arizona Saturday night, rolling 10-2. It marked the second straight game in which the Lions scored 10 or more goals.
Eight different Lions scored on the evening.
Cory Spradling and
Chad Boeckman each scored twice. Lindenwood, who led 4-0 after the first, was never threatened as the team scored three goals in both the second and third periods. Ryan Divitto and Boeckman each a power play tally.
Chris Abbott stopped 28 of 30 shots to earn the win in goal.
Lindenwood picked up where it left off before Christmas break, crushing Arizona 13-4 on the road Friday night. In a physical game that saw eight ejections, the Lions took control in the second and never looked back.
Lindenwood had ten different players score led by
Adam Krefski who netted his second hat trick of the year.
Tim Gardner added a pair of goals as well.
After Arizona pulled within one at 4-3 in the second, the Lions would rattle off eight straight goals to take control for good.
Lindenwood was three for six on power play opportunities, and defensively killed eight of ten power play chances by the Icecats.
Robi Cavallari earned the win in goal, allowing three scores on 18 shots.
Devin Raney played most of the third period and surrendered one score on two shots.
Lindenwood (28-2, 12-2) will play Davenport University (Mich.) this Tuesday for a pair of games in Tempe, Ariz.
