Lady Lions Blank No. 8 UMass
The Lady Lions recorded their sixth shutout of the season Wednesday afternoon.
The No. 1 Lindenwood women's ice hockey team shutout No. 8 University of Massachusetts 2-0 Wednesday afternoon. It was the sixth shutout of the season for the Lady Lions.

Ashley Rebeck scored the eventual game winner in the opening minutes of the contest and the score would remain 1-0 into the third period.

Christy Mason added an insurance goal midway through the final frame and the defense would preserve the shutout over the final 10 minutes.

Rebecca Bernet earned her fifth shutout of the season with the win. The Lady Lions recorded 37 shots compared to just 23 for UMass.

On Tuesday, Lindenwood scored three first period goals en route to a 4-2 victory over UMass.

Mandy Dion opened the scoring with an even-strength goal midway through the first, and she would convert a power play score late in the period to give the Lady Lions a two goal cushion. Janella Brodett added another power play goal moments later to cap a strong opening period.

UMass would find the back of the net minutes into the second to trim the lead to 3-1, but never threatened again.

Rebeck scored in the third to put the game out of reach and UMass would add a late tally to cap the scoring.

Lindenwood was two-for-four on power play opportunities and outshot UMass 35-24. Bernet earned the win in goal and Lisa Moreau chipped in with a pair of assists.

Lindenwood (20-1-1, 8-0) will have Thursday off before playing Rhode Island over the weekend.

Women's Ice Hockey
Mandy Dion helped the Lady Lions ice hockey team win its third straight national championship and was named MVP of the tournament. She scored 11 goals in five games at the national event and had three hat tricks.
Cory Spradling
Men's Ice Hockey
Cory Spradling was named the tournament MVP for the Lindenwood men's ice hockey as it won its second straight national title. Spradling scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Iowa State in the championshp game. He also scored twice in a 4-0 semifinal victory over Central Oklahoma.
