Apr. 6, 2009- Vince O’Mara was recently named the 2009 ACHA Division I Women’s Coach of the Year. It was the second national coach of the year award for O’Mara as he also won in 2005-06.
O’Mara opened up the year with a team that graduated 2/3 of their team’s goals, assists and points from last season. After starting the year with a 5-2-2 record, the Lady Lions began to click and went 27-1-1 the rest of the way. Among the way, Lindenwood captured the CCWHA regular season and playoff championships, and won its second straight ACHA Division I National Championship. In the national tournament, O’Mara led his team to three straight third period comebacks, including a 2-1 victory over rival Robert Morris in the championship game.
O’Mara has been at the helm all six seasons for the Lady Lions and has a combined record of 165-21-7 record, an amazing .855 winning percentage. He has led Lindenwood to three ACHA National Championships in 2006, 2008, and 2009 and a runner-up showing in 2007.
