The Lindenwood men's bowling team won 9th annual Leatherneck Classic this past weekend. The women's team also had an outstanding weekend, finishing second.
The men qualified first and defeated Robert Morris 3-2 in the semifinals before sweeping Wichita State in the championship match. Kimani Smith was the individual tournament winner with an average of 227.17. Steve Miller was also named to the all-tournament team finishing third with a 221 average and Dan Lemiesz and Zach Hunter each had Top 10 finishes. Hunter had the highlight of the weekend, rolling a perfect 300 game.
The women qualified fourth and defeated Wichita State 3-2 in the semifinals after falling behind 2-0. In the championship match, the Lady Lions fell to tournament champion, Webber International, 3-1. Jillian McBride made the all-tournament team, finishing fourth with a 197.5 average.
The Lindenwood bowling teams will be off until January 16 where they compete in the Hoinke Bearcat Open.
