Lady Lions Stun Robert Morris With Late Comeback
Lindenwood Womens Ice Hockey (2008)
The Lady Lions have won 10 straight against Robert Morris and six overall.
The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team and Robert Morris wrote another entertaining chapter in their storied rivalry Sunday afternoon. However, the ending was all too familiar, with the Lady Lions prevailing 4-3.

Already trailing 2-0 late in the first period, Lindenwood's Lisa Moreau scored to cut the lead to one. The game would remain 2-1 until the 2:33 mark of the second when Sarah Oliphant recorded a power play goal to tie the game.

In the third, the No. 2 Eagles scored first to retake the lead at 3-2, but with less than four minutes remaining, Ashley Rebeck converted a shorthanded goal to even the score. Moments later, Moreau would net the game winner to complete the comeback.

Rebecca Bernet halted 23-of-26 shots in goal, helping the No. 1 Lady Lions to their 10th consecutive victory against the Eagles.

On Saturday, Lindenwood defeated Robert Morris 4-2.

Miranda Schrock put Lindenwood on the board first, scoring less than four minutes into the game. The score would remain 1-0 into the second when Robert Morris would score twice in in a span of six minutes. Seconds after falling behind 2-1, Mandy Dion scored to even the score.

Dion would score again with five minutes remaining in the middle period to put the Lady Lions back on top. The goal was the result of a delayed penalty in which Lindenwood pulled its goalie and Dion was able to found the back of the net. Alexandra Johannson would put the game away with a tally in the third period.

Bernet stopped 24-of-26 shots to pick up the win in goal. Kendra Ganchar finished with two assists.

Lindenwood (16-1-1, 8-0) has concluded the first half of its schedule and will return to action on January 6 against the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
