Men's Ice Hockey Wins 200th Game In Program History
Colin-Long-(2008)
The Lindenwood men’s ice hockey team won the 200th game in program history this afternoon, holding on against Adrian, 3-2. The Lions, who led 3-0 going into the final period, extended their winning streak to 29 games dating back to last season.

After skating to a scoreless tie in the first period, the Lions broke through in the second for three scores. Minutes into the frame, Grant Gorczyca scored his second goal in as many days to give Lindenwood a 1-0 lead. Seconds later, Neeco Belanger would score a power play goal to push the lead to two. With just over five minutes remaining in the period, Kurtis Astle found the back of the net on the power play to cap the scoring for Lindenwood.

Midway through the third, Adrian would score two quick goals to draw within one of Lindenwood. However, the visitors would only get off two more shots as the Lions defense played well down the stretch.

Chris Abbott was the victor in goal, stopping 23 of 25 shots.

Lindenwood scored three goals in each of the final two periods to defeat visiting Adrian 7-1, Saturday evening. Leading 1-0 after the first, the Lions put the game away in the middle period to run their winning streak to 28 games.

Russell LaForest would net his first goal of the season to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead. In the second period, the Lions would break the game open scoring three straight before surrendering the only Adrian tally. In the third, the Lions added three more goals to cap the scoring.

Chad Boeckman scored twice including a power play goal and Cory Spradling chipped in with two shorthanded goals. Belanger and Gorczyca each scored for Lindenwood.

Robi Cavallari stopped 26 of 27 shots to earn the victory in goal.

Lindenwood (24-0, 8-0) will remain at home next weekend and host No. 4 Ohio in a pair of critical CSCHL games.
