Two Hockey Players Receive CHA All-Conference Awards

Two Lindenwood women's hockey players were named to the CHA All-Conference teams that were announced on Thursday evening at the league's awards banquet. Forward Alison Wickenheiser and goalie Nicole Hensley were both second-team All-CHA selections. Hensley was also named the CHA Rookie of the Year and named to the All-Rookie team.

In CHA games, Wickenheiser finished sixth in the league in goals (9) and eighth in points (17). The sophomore had three game-winning goals in league games, one shy of the conference leader in that category. For the season, Wickenheiser finished first on the team with 12 goals and 24 points, and tied for the team-high with 12 assists.

Wickenheiser, who was named the CHA Player of the Week once during the season, had several dramatic goals late in the year including scoring the game-winner against RIT with seven seconds remaining in the game and scoring a penalty-shot goal in an overtime win over Robert Morris. One of top performances of the year was in another win over Robert Morris when she recorded two goals and one assist in the final eight minutes of the game in a 5-2 victory.

Hensley finished second in the CHA with a .939 save percentage in league games, just .001 behind the leader. She was also second with 523 saves in league action and had a 2.39 GAA in those games. For the season, Hensley set a Lindenwood record with 1083 saves and she finished with a 3.42 GAA and a .922 save percentage.

Hensley final game of the season was one of the memorable in the history of NCAA Division I hockey. She stopped 90 shots in the triple-overtime conference tournament game against Robert Morris, 12 more saves than the NCAA Division I record. She allowed just two goals in that game and had a save percentage of .978. Hensley was a five-time CHA Rookie of the Week selection and was named the CHA February Rookie of the Month.

The Lady Lions finished the 2012-13 season with a 7-26-3 overall record in their first year against a full NCAA Division I schedule. Lindenwood was fifth in the CHA with a 7-10-3 mark, just two points shy of third place.
