The Lindenwood men's tennis team opened the 2012-13 season at the Art Peterson Invitational hosted by Western Illinois University.
Eddy Belhaouane won the team's lone championship at the event as he won the No. 8 singles tournament. He won the first two matches in straight sets and then defeated UW-Whitewater's Nate Campanile in the finals by scores of 4-6, 6-2, 10-7.
Yoshikazu Ysa also reached the finals in his singles bracket at No. 3 singles. He lost in the finals in straight sets to Western Illinois' Bradley Holt by scores of 6-2, 6-4.
Two Lions finished third in
Thiago Mastroianni at No. 5 singles and
William Hale at No. 6 singles.
Eric Tucoulou at No. 1 singles,
Gauthier Schilling at No. 4 singles, and
Johannes Rabenhorst at No. 6 singles all lost their first matches but bounced back with two wins to win the consolation finals.
In doubles, the top finisher was the team of Tucoulou and Schilling which finished third at the No. 1 position.
Andrei Masin and Ysa won fifth place at No. 2 doubles, and Rabenhorst and Belhaouane were fifth at No. 4 doubles.
