Magic Continues For Lady Lions at the Lindenwood Invitational

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team won its third straight one-goal game on Saturday at Hunter Stadium. The No. 6 Lady Lions defeated No. 12 Michigan by a 10-9 margin in double overtime.

Michigan scored the first three goals of the contest, but Lindenwood came back and outscored the Wolverines 5-1 for the rest of the first half. In the second half, the Lady Lions led 9-8 late when Michigan tied the contest at the buzzer. Neither team scored in the first overtime which set up the stage for Kara Cashen to win the game for Lindenwood with a goal in the second overtime.

Lexi Crusha led the Lady Lions with four goals and one assist, and Cashen had three scores and two assists. Justiene Groothuis added two goals, an assist, and five groundballs. Ana Gullett had the other score for Lindenwood. In goal, Christine Hehmeyer made seven saves in the contest.

Lindenwood improves to 12-4 overall, including a 3-0 mark at the Lindenwood Invitational. The Lady Lions will end the event on Sunday with an 11 a.m. contest versus UCLA.
