Missouri Baptist Earns Rare Win Over Lindenwood

Mike Warren had a double-double of 12 kills and 10 digs against Missouri Baptist.
The Lindenwood volleyball team failed to put away visiting Missouri Baptist Tuesday night, and in doing so, saw its 10 match winning streak against the Spartans come to an end. 

Missouri Baptist trailed 4-1 early in the fifth set, but rallied and surged ahead after converting three straight points to take an 8-5 lead. Lindenwood would get no closer and fell 32-30, 20-30, 21-30, 30-28, 15-11.

Tim Huizinga had a career-high 19 kills to lead the Lions. Mike Warren finished with a double-double of 12 kills and 10 digs. Taylor Morrill chipped in 12 kills as well. Mike Larson tallied 40 assists and Raphael Mattos recorded four aces. Andrew Hock had a team-best 15 digs, and Mike Emerick and Larson each had 13. Matt Schmack logged 11 blocks and Jack Mitchell posted seven.

Lindenwood (14-8, 4-3) will host  Graceland on Friday in the team's final home match of the season.

Mike Emerick
Men's Volleyball
Mike Emerick was named the 2009-10 Lindenwood Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Emerick, a men's volleyball player, was named the MAMVIC West Conference Libero of the Year for the second straight season. He collected 442 digs for an average of 3.5 digs a game, and was named the National Libero of the Week four times. Emerick is a Finance major at Lindenwood.
Cassie Williams
Women's Basketball
Cassie Williams was named the 2009-10 Lindenwood Female Student-Athlete of the Year. Williams, a women's basketball player, averaged 9.1 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Lady Lions last season. The four-year letterwinner finished her career with over 700 points and 500 rebounds, and nearly 200 assists. Williams is an Exercise Science major at Lindenwood.
