Women's Lacrosse Lives Up To Preseason Ranking In Season Opener
Women's Lacrosse (Team)
The No. 9 Lindenwood women’s lacrosse team lived up to its preseason billing in its season opener. The Lady Lions jumped out to a 13-3 halftime lead over Tennessee Wesleyan and finished with a 17-3 victory.

Lacey Vatland led the offensive assault with seven goals, and Laura Boland and Justiene Groothuis also each had a hat trick with three goals. Kathryn St. George netted a pair of goals and Kristen Papadakos and Ashley Bruce each scored once. Groothuis led the squad with three assists.

Defensively, three players guarded the goal. Christina Corcoran and Caitlin Erickson each had three saves and Christie Mearns stopped one shot.

Lindenwood will face a step up in competition next weekend when it competes in the Santa Barbara Shootout.

Cory Spradling
Men's Ice Hockey
Cory Spradling was named the tournament MVP for the Lindenwood men's ice hockey as it won its second straight national title. Spradling scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Iowa State in the championshp game. He also scored twice in a 4-0 semifinal victory over Central Oklahoma.
Mandy Dion
Women's Ice Hockey
Mandy Dion helped the Lady Lions ice hockey team win its third straight national championship and was named MVP of the tournament. She scored 11 goals in five games at the national event and had three hat tricks.
