Women's Ice Hockey Slips Past Robert Morris
Many Dion (2009)
Mandy Dion owns the Lindenwood record for most goals in a season with 45 this year.
The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team edged arch rival Robert Morris (Ill.) 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.

Neither team would score in the first two periods, but Lindenwood broke through in the third when Sarah Oliphant found Mandy Dion for the lone goal.

Rebecca Bernet earned her ninth shutout of the year, stopping 22 shots. The win tied her own Lindenwood record for most shutouts in a season.

Lindenwood skated to a 2-2 tie Saturday night against Robert Morris (Ill.). The decision ended the Lady Lions' ten game winning streak against the Eagles.

Robert Morris scored late in the first period to take a brief 1-0 lead. With 35 seconds remaining in the period, Christy Mason scored to tie it up at one. Neither team scored in the second, setting up an entertaining and tense third period.

The Eagles grabbed the lead midway through the frame on an even strength goal. After pulling its goalie, the Lindenwood's Dion notched her 44th goal of season to even the score at two.

In the five minute overtime period, neither team was able to take control.

Bernet played a huge role in the decision, stopping 27 of 29 shots, including two break away attempts by Robert Morris' top two scorers.

Before the start of the contest, Lindenwood honored seniors Robbyn Keating, Amanda Blanc, Bernet and Dion for their contributions to the program.
