Lions Put Robert Morris Away Early on Senior Night

The Lindenwood men's ice hockey team scored five first period goals en route to 6-3 win over the visiting Robert Morris Eagles Saturday evening.

Neeco Belanger scored in the opening minutes to give the Lions a quick one goal lead. Robert Morris responded with a power play score at the 12 minute mark, but Lindenwood would rattle off four straight goals to close out the period. Cory Spradling collected a pair of goals, and Adam Krefski and Belanger each found the back of the net to give the Lions a 5-1 lead after one period.

Five minutes into the second period, Belanger completed the hat trick with another tally, and the Eagles scored twice in the frame to cap the scoring.

Chris Abbott surrendered all three goals picking up the win in net. Devin Raney entered the contest in the third and shut down the Eagles over the final twenty minutes.

Prior to the game, seniors Tim Gardner, Abbott and Raney were all honored in their final home game as a Lion.

A big second period propelled the Lindenwood to a 4-1 win over Robert Morris Friday night. Trailing 1-0 entering the second, the Lions erupted for three goals to clip the Eagles in the team's final regular season series. 

Five minutes into the second period, team captain Colin Long scored on the power play to even the score. Moments later Adam Krefski scored to put the Lions on top for good. With less than two minutes remaining in the frame, Chad Boeckman scored to make it 3-0. 

Carson Hamil added another tally in the third to cap the scoring. Robi Cavallari earned the win goal for the Lions. Bret Morrell added a pair of assists in the victory.

Lindenwood (35-5, 16-4) will compete in the CSCHL conference tournament next weekend. The Lions will play Western Michigan in the opening round on Friday at 1 p.m.
