Lindenwood Clay Target Team Wins at Three Events

The Lindenwood Clay Target Team made a trip to New York for the US Open Skeet Championships this past weekend and it turned out to be a successful one for the Lions.

Jessica Forbes was crowned the overall winner in the women’s division and also finished third in the 28 gauge and .410 bore divisions. Another member of the lady’s side, Talia Borg, would finish runner-up in the doubles division.

On the men’s side of the competition Eric Desatoff was the champion in the 20 gauge division and teammate Chris Cook finished third in the same event.

It was a successful weekend for the Lions at the US Open but it wouldn’t stop there. The Lions also competed at Purdue and won the overall championship. Jesse Molstre, Jenna McLean, Bret Court, Michael Hahn, and William Schmeisser all competed for the Lions.

Molstre won the overall for the men and teammate McLean was the champion for the women’s side.

In Kirville, Texas, Jake Wallace competed at the USA Trap Championship and won the junior division. Wallaca will now travel with Team USA to Munich, Germany for the World Cup.

Athletes of the Week
Mike Emerick
Men's Volleyball
Mike Emerick was named the 2009-10 Lindenwood Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Emerick, a men's volleyball player, was named the MAMVIC West Conference Libero of the Year for the second straight season. He collected 442 digs for an average of 3.5 digs a game, and was named the National Libero of the Week four times. Emerick is a Finance major at Lindenwood.
Cassie Williams
Women's Basketball
Cassie Williams was named the 2009-10 Lindenwood Female Student-Athlete of the Year. Williams, a women's basketball player, averaged 9.1 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Lady Lions last season. The four-year letterwinner finished her career with over 700 points and 500 rebounds, and nearly 200 assists. Williams is an Exercise Science major at Lindenwood.
