Lady Lions Advance in HAAC Tourney
Ellen Fandry (2008)
The Lindenwood volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the HAAC Tournament Saturday, defeating Culver-Stockton 25-18, 25-16, 25-18. The win marked the third straight year the Lady Lions have defeated the Wildcats in the first round.

Lindenwood controlled throughout the early stages of the first set but the Wildcats used a quick spurt to cut the lead to 10-9. An attack error by Culver-Stockton ignited a decisive 5-0 run for the Lady Lions. Ellen Fandry converted an ace and Kelsey Biggs tallied a kill to help build a six point lead that Lindenwood would never relinquish.

Culver-Stockton converted five of the first seven points in game two and eventually built a 12-8 lead. The Lady Lions would respond with the first of two 4-0 runs. Leading 20-16, the Lady Lions scored the final five points of the set to take a 2-0 lead. In that final run, Krista Yoder accounted for a kill and a block.

Lindenwood never trailed in the final set, leading by as much as six before winning by seven. Yoder and Fandry would account for six of the final seven points. Fandry recorded five kills in the set.

Fandry finished with a team high 16 kills and two aces. Yoder added 10 kills and led the squad with five blocks. Biggs netted 36 assists, Alyssa Showers chipped in with 10 digs and Kelsey Jo Vogler had four blocks.

Lindenwood (29-11, 10-0) will play the winner of William Jewell and Benedictine this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
