Women's Basketball Falls To Lyon By 69-49 Score
Destini Wilson
The Lindenwood women’s basketball team was defeated during its first road trip of the 2009-10 season, falling to Lyon by a 69-49 score.

The first-half was the undoing for the Lady Lions as they fell in a 37-18 hole in the first 20 minutes. The team trailed just 14-10 with 12:25 remaining but it went cold for the rest of the period. Lindenwood scored just eight points for the rest of the half, including no points for the final 7:17, and Lyon pulled away on a 23-8 run.

In the second-half, Lindenwood continued to have trouble putting the ball through the hoop, having just 33 points until the final three minutes. In the final minutes, Lindenwood outscored Lyon by a 16-8 margin.

The bright sign for the Lady Lions was a defense that forced 29 turnovers, including eight steals for Lindenwood.

Destini Wilson led Lindenwood with 15 points and Cassie Williams was in double figure scoring with 11. Kaylie Jones had eight points and a team-high five rebounds, and Casey Junge also grabbed five boards.

Lindenwood will look for its first win of the season next Friday evening at home against Columbia.
