Lady Lions Compete in First Event of Season

Last weekend, the Lindenwood Lady Lion wrestling team started their season at the McMaster Invitational Tournament and left the event placing four out of 11 wrestlers.

Leading the way for the Lady Lions was Shauna Isbell who finished the tournament with a 4-1 record in the 51kg division and finished in third place. Isbel lost in her first match by decision to Alana King but would not lose another en route to her third place finish. In her final four matches she beat Lena Thang, Cassandra Devlin, and Brittany Bertolani all by technical falls and finally Jenn Nguyen by decision in her last match.

In the 59kg division, Cortnei Mudge would place in fifth place after going 3-2. After losing her first match by decision to Bernadette Devlin, she would go onto beat Rachel Iduarte, Charlotte Clemen and Sarah Ashmore-MacDonald all by decision.

The final two wrestlers to place were Angie Vyborny in the 82kg class and Sarah Zamora in the 55kg division, both finished sixth.

Up next for the Lady Lions is a home match against Oklahoma City on November 13 at 5 p.m.

Cory Spradling
Men's Ice Hockey
Cory Spradling was named the tournament MVP for the Lindenwood men's ice hockey as it won its second straight national title. Spradling scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Iowa State in the championshp game. He also scored twice in a 4-0 semifinal victory over Central Oklahoma.
Mandy Dion
Women's Ice Hockey
Mandy Dion helped the Lady Lions ice hockey team win its third straight national championship and was named MVP of the tournament. She scored 11 goals in five games at the national event and had three hat tricks.
