Lindenwood Ends Fall Season On Winning Note
Heron Lakes CC
The Lindenwood men’s golf team ended its 2009 fall season by winning its first championship of the year. The Lions swept the team and individual titles at the Mobile Fall Invitational.

Lindenwood shot a 293 in round one of the seven-team tournament to jump out to a 16 shot lead. Central Alabama Community College got within six strokes after the Lions shot 300 in round two, but Lindenwood held on with a 290 in the final round. Its final score of 883 was nine shots better than Central Alabama.

Richard Docherty earned the medalist honors in similar fashion by leading from the very start. He shot a three-under 69 in the first-round, three shots better than the rest of the field. He then shot even par in round two and one-over in the final round for a final score of two-under 214. That was six shots ahead of the runner-up golfers, which included teammate Lourens Kleynhaus. Kleynhaus was seven-over after the second round but finished with a 69 to tie for second with a 220.

Also finishing in the Top 10 for Lindenwood were Paul Colditz and Alex Hauser. Colditz finished with a 224 and tied for eighth, while Hauser was tied for tenth just two shots behind. Rounding out the team was Morgan Leigh who tied for 23rd with a 233.
