Five Lady Lions Honored by the HAAC

Five members of the Lindenwood Lady Lion volleyball team were named to HAAC All-Conference teams this past week. Ellen Fandry and Krista Yoder were named to the first team, Kelsey Biggs, Victoria Krause and Alyssa Showers were second team selections.

Fandry averaged 3.54 kills and 2.24 digs per game this season. She recorded double-digit kills in 31 of the 41 matches she appeared in and had a team high 13 double-doubles. The sophomore outside hitter ranked in the Top 20 in the nation in total kills. Twice this year, Fandry netted 20 kills in a match. She also led the team in serving aces with 30.

Yoder leads the team with 1.1 blocks per game and a .342 hitting percentage. She ranks in the Top 35 in the nation in total blocks and hitting percentage. In 24 of 41 matches this year, she led the team in blocks. Her season best came against Baker in which the junior middle hitter recorded 10 blocks. Yoder was second on the team in kills per set with a 2.25 average. She had 18 matches of double-digit kills and recorded a season best 15 on five separate occasions.

Biggs was one of the top setters in the conference averaging 9.2 assists per set and led the HAAC in total assists. She led the Lady Lions in that category in all 41 matches this year. Her season high came against Missouri Valley when she totaled 54 helpers. She was also among the team leaders in aces with 29 and a 2.30 digs per game average.

Krause averaged 2.18 kills per game and had a .279 hitting percentage. She recorded double-digit kills in 13 of the 41 matches she appeared in. The junior opposite hitter had season high 16 kills against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and led the Lady Lions in that category in six different matches. Krause also finished third on the team in total blocks.

Showers led the team with 5.17 digs per game. She recorded double-digit digs in all but four matches this year. In three different matches she recorded 30 or more digs including a season best 36 against Freed-Hardeman. She ranked in the Top 20 in total digs and in the Top 35 in digs per game.

Lindenwood finished 29-12 on the year and won the HAAC regular season title for the fifth straight year with a perfect 10-0 record.

Mandy Dion
Women's Ice Hockey
Mandy Dion helped the Lady Lions ice hockey team win its third straight national championship and was named MVP of the tournament. She scored 11 goals in five games at the national event and had three hat tricks.
Cory Spradling
Men's Ice Hockey
Cory Spradling was named the tournament MVP for the Lindenwood men's ice hockey as it won its second straight national title. Spradling scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Iowa State in the championshp game. He also scored twice in a 4-0 semifinal victory over Central Oklahoma.
